What you Can Do Today

  • Choose products that use sustainably sourced palm oil, identified by certifications like RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil). Avoid products that contribute to deforestation and habitat destruction.

  • Purchase products with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, which ensures that the materials are sourced from responsibly managed forests, reducing the demand for unsustainable palm oil production.

  • Raise awareness about the environmental impact of unsustainable palm oil production by discussing it with friends and family. Sharing information can encourage others to make more conscious choices.

  • Get involved with organizations that work on the ground to protect rainforests and promote sustainable practices. Volunteering can directly contribute to conservation efforts.

  • Donate to or support charities focused on rainforest conservation, wildlife protection, and sustainable development. These organizations often work to combat deforestation and promote sustainable palm oil production.

Orangutan Outreach is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of orangutans in Borneo and Sumatra. They work to rescue, rehabilitate, and release orangutans back into the wild, while also supporting local conservation projects and raising global awareness about the threats to orangutans, particularly from deforestation and the palm oil industry. Orangutan Outreach collaborates with other conservation groups and provides funding to several rescue centers.
